Dancing With The Stars season 31 has many talented competitors, but actor Trevor Donovan and his partner Emma Slater are the ones who should win.
Dancing With The Stars season 31 has many talented celebrity contestants, but actor Trevor Donovan and his professional dance partner Emma Slater deserve to win the Mirrorball Trophy. Trevor came into the competition with no professional dance training. He is instead known for his many acting roles, most notably as Teddy Montgomery on 90210 and several Hallmark Channel movies. He excels at skiing, snowboarding, and surfing. He also sings and plays guitar, and has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. He has written three children’s books, and he started a nationwide anti-bullying program called Team Upstanders. He is also an active ambassador for Habitat for Humanity and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights. However, despite all of these talents and achievements, Trevor never learned to dance until he joined DWTS.
For Trevor’s first DWTS season 31 dance, a quickstep, he earned 21 points out of 40, placing 10th out of the 16 contestants. In week 2, he made a drastic improvement, jumping to 4th place with 30 points for his sensual rumba with Emma. However, it was in week 7 that Trevor really proved himself when he tied for first place with frontrunner Charli D’Amelio and her partner Mark Ballas, earning a near-perfect score of 39 points for both his moving contemporary dance and his team dance. His partnership with Emma has allowed him to grow into the dancer that he is today, and he deserves to win DWTS season 31 for many reasons.

Trevor Donovan Conquered His Fear Of Dancing On DWTS
When DWTS season 31 began, Trevor told Emma that he had a fear of dancing. He was very much out of his comfort zone, and it showed in his first dance. However, he had potential that Emma nurtured. Through her gentle teaching, Trevor was able to overcome his fear of dancing and now says that he loves the art form.
Trevor Donovan Uses The Judges’ Critiques To Improve His Dancing
Trevor listens intently when the judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli, give him feedback. He takes what they tell him to heart. He and Emma then try to apply what they say to their next dance. Trevor is never defensive, but instead is open to criticism so that he can improve. He works on his technique to earn higher scores.
Trevor Donovan Connects Emotionally When He Dances
Trevor has found a way to tap into his emotions when he dances. Carrie Ann has been pushing some of the frontrunners in the competition such as Charli and Gabby Windey to open up more when they dance, but this seems to come naturally to Trevor. In their contemporary dance for which they earned first place, Trevor and Emma performed a hauntingly beautiful routine to “Ghost (Acoustic)” by Justin Bieber, which brought everyone, including Trevor, to tears. The dance told the story of a man whose wife is now a ghost. Trevor connected so much with the dance because he was thinking about his friends who had recently lost somebody. Trevor received his first 10s of DWTS season 31 because he allowed himself to be vulnerable in the dance. Because of his trust in Emma and his connection with her, Trevor was able to be emotional.
Trevor Donovan Is What DWTS Is All About
Although watching extraordinarily talented dancers such as Charli, Gabby, and Wayne Brady is thrilling, fans sometimes find it even more satisfying when someone like Trevor delivers an incredible routine. The frontrunners in the competition are expected to be great every week, but when someone like Trevor, who has no prior dance experience, stuns the audience with a powerful dance, it is even more inspiring. Trevor was saved from elimination by the judges in DWTS weeks 4 and 6 after being in the bottom two, and then rose to the top spot in week 7. He is what the show is truly about: a person with no dance experience learning from his partner to become a dancer.

DWTS fans have watched Trevor blossom into a beautiful dancer after conquering his fears, making himself vulnerable, and perfecting his technique. He now looks confident on stage. Emma has been the ideal partner for him as she gently pushes him to new heights every week, while being a kind and understanding friend to him as well. For all that he has achieved in the competition, Trevor deserves to win DWTS season 31.
