Dancing With The Stars season 31 contestants Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater have grown closer, and their connection shines through in their dances.
Dancing With The Stars season 31 partners actor Trevor Donovan and professional dancer Emma Slater have an undeniable connection, and they explained how it has grown throughout the course of the show so far. Trevor and Emma had a rocky start to the season, earning just 21 points for their first dance, a quickstep. Trevor even admitted that he had a fear of dancing. However, in week 7, they rose to the top of the leaderboard and placed first with a total of 78 points for their stunning individual contemporary dance and their team dance. They tied with frontrunners Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas for the top spot.
Trevor Donovan & Emma Slater Have A Strong Connection
Emma went on to say that Trevor has grown a lot over the course of DWTS season 31. She gushed, “When I look at him and I dance with him, I have moments now of being super proud of what he’s achieving and, like, seeing his body position and then seeing the commitment in his face I just, like, smile and he looks at me like, ‘What are you smiling at?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m just looking at you, like, killing it.’ I’m just so proud.” Emma and Trevor’s emotional and poignant contemporary routine to “Ghost (Acoustic)” by Justin Bieber was a beautiful example of how the couple’s chemistry translates to the DWTS dance floor. Emma explained that she thinks that she and Trevor “just have a really easy way of communicating with each other. We’re naturally very … supportive of each other and [we’re] always checking in. … We’re just really connected that way.” Trevor has previously expressed that he finds it so easy to be himself around Emma, and that they have fun every day together. He added that they are one hundred percent comfortable with each other.
Emma is the perfect partner for someone like Trevor. She has brought out the best in him as he overcomes his phobia of dancing. Trevor has been able to use his acting skills to bring his characters to life in his dances. However, it is his connection with Emma that really moves the audience, especially in dances such as their DWTS Halloween Night contemporary routine, which told the story of a man whose wife is now a ghost. It was so emotional that Trevor himself was brought to tears because he connected so much with the dance because he was thinking about his friends who had recently lost somebody. Trevor received his first 10s of the season because of how he allowed himself to be vulnerable in the dance through his connection with Emma.

Although Trevor and Emma have been saved by the judges twice because they were in the bottom two, they definitely are the dark horses to win the competition. Trevor embodies everything that DWTS is about: a person with no previous dance experience becoming a dancer. He is achieving this because of his incredible connection with his partner Emma.
